DESCRIPCION
R.E.M. comenzaron a avanzar hacia la producción discográfica convencional con 'Life Rich Pageant', pero no tuvieron un avance comercial real hasta este 'Document' del año siguiente. Irónicamente, 'Document' es un álbum extraño, más variado que su predecesor, pero el coproductor Scott Litt le da al grupo un sonido limpio sin sacrificar sus tendencias enigmáticas. 'Finest Worksong', 'It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)', y el sencillo 'The One I Love' crepitan con ritmos musculosos y riffs de guitarras. Pero la verdadera sorpresa son temas politicos como 'Welcome to the Occupation', 'Disturbance at the Heron House' y 'King of Birds'. Donde 'Lifes Rich Pageant' sonaba un poco festivo, 'Document' es una declaración ardiente, y sus melodías y riffs memorables hacen indeleble su justa ira. En otras palabras, no es un avance comercial, sino también un avance creativo que ofrece madurez.
